Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from y'all on the internet.
Today's question is:
Okay. So, what's the difference between a good rap shop and an average one? Um, you know, I personally or we personally as a shop don't really like to kind of, you know, pick on a shop and and criticize them, but definitely there is a I would say a certain guideline or a certain standard that we look for when it comes to doing a good having a good rap shop and and being able to do uh professional work. And I think the one of the biggest uh one of the biggest diff uh I guess one of the one of the biggest impacts um one of the things that can make make a big impact is that to be able to dismantle some parts of the car so that you're not uh you're not just you know always kind of squeezing in the material in between like gaps in the bumper or between like the headlights and the fender. So, we like to spend more time being able to remove certain parts, not necessarily remove them completely, maybe to loosen them up. Like, let's say with bumpers, you know, you have to kind of loosen the sides or the corners up. So, that way you're able to wrap the wrap around so that way it doesn't come off and also makes it look almost like a paint job as opposed to doing a wrap. And you look at the very end, you might see the original color of the car. So, with that being said, um that costs takes more labor. It costs a little bit more money, but you're doing it the right way. And a lot of, you know, a lot of shops out there, they try to cut corners on that. Then, you know, obviously they're they won't try to remove it and they would just, you know, again, squeeze the material in between gaps and whatnot. And eventually, it starts to come off um and all and um cause all sorts of uh let's say decontamination and whatnot.
Paul Cotaco explained that a good wrap shop differentiates itself by spending more time dismantling parts of the car, such as loosening bumpers, to ensure the wrap goes around corners properly (00:00:00). This meticulous process helps prevent the material from peeling off and makes the wrap look more like a paint job, even though it requires more labor and cost
